World Wetlands Day -

CELEBRATIONS BY CHEMINOVA INDIA, PANOLI FACTORY, GUJARAT

Following activities were carried out on the day of World Wetlands Day, 2nd February 2011, at Cheminova India’s manufacturing unit at Panoli, Gujarat.

(i) Unveiling of Banners at main gates of all divisions.  Around 35 to 50 employees participated at each location during unveiling function. 

(ii) Mr. Neeraj Shah, Deputy Executive Engineer of Gujarat Pollution Control Board [GPCB], Ankleshwar, has graced the occasion as Chief Guest during tree plantation. We explained him the initiative taken by Cheminova for celebrating World Wetlands Day at factory as well as in Villages all over India by our Marketing Dept. The importance of Wetlands Day was explained and copy of booklet on importance of Wetlands Day prepared by Cheminova India was given.
  
(iii) Oath taking was done on Public announcement system at all locations before the beginning of the event.

(iv) Tree plantation done in all Divisions by employees. Workers also participated in celebration whole heartedly.

(v) Booklets on World Wetlands Day were distributed to all employees. Meaning and purpose / importance of celebrating World Wetlands Day were explained to group of employees.

 
 

(vi) About 100 saplings were planted in all three Divisions.

TREE PLANTATION BY MR. NEERAJ SHAH, EXECUTIVE ENGINEER : 

(vii) Welcome to Mr. Neeraj Shah at Intermediate Division by Panoli Managers Team. 

(viii) Briefed Mr. Neeraj Shah on initiative taken by Cheminova on World Wetlands Day and its purpose/importance.

(ix) Mr. Shah appreciated the initiative taken by Cheminova, and he suggested that GPCB and GIDCE together decided to develop greenbelt already identified in GIDC layout.  He suggested Greenbelt development through voluntary ownership by member industries, in which land will be allocated to members of industry for five years to develop greenbelt for which water supply will be provided free of cost by GIDC. Industry will require to guard the land by fencing, and will display the boards / banners as per their wish for an agreed time frame. Cheminova India intends to participate in this activity.
  
(x) All employees of intermediate division have joined Mr Neeraj Shah in the tree planting programme. He appreciated the dense planting in our site-2, which could be emulated by other members of the industry and also other industries in the vicinity.  He was pleased to know that we have planted trees along the highway of our site-1 and care was being taken with drip irrigation / fertigation.
